The Challenge
Ẹbun Foods had spent two years building strong product quality and export logistics. The founders — siblings with deep knowledge of Nigerian food culture and supply chains — had a genuine differentiation story. But their existing brand had been designed for a different context and a different price point. UK retail buyers were polite but not converting.
What We Built
We started with positioning: what Ẹbun Foods is, who it is for, and what it must communicate immediately to a UK buyer who has never heard of the brand. From that we developed a visual language — colour palette, typography, illustration system — that conveyed premium provenance without African cliché.
The packaging system was designed to work across the eight current SKUs with a structure that could accommodate future additions without a rebrand. Every design decision was made with shelf placement in mind: at eye-level in ambient grocery next to established specialty brands.
8 SKUsRepackaged under the new identityDeliverables included: brand guidelines document, print-ready packaging files, a retailer pitch deck, and digital assets for launch.
The Outcome
Six months after relaunch, Ẹbun Foods had secured placement in two regional independent chains and was in active conversations with a national specialty retailer. The founders reported that buyer meeting conversion improved substantially — conversations that previously ended with "we'll keep you in mind" were now advancing to sample orders.
